With a flourishing arts program, the Nixa School District found itself in need of expanded and modernized facilities to house its high-caliber drama, band, and choir productions. Right from the project's initiation, a key objective was to leverage architectural design to establish a significant presence in the community and forge a distinctive identity for the arts department.

Rather than opting for the renovation of an outdated and undersized existing auditorium, the decision was made to construct a new, larger auditorium and repurpose the existing space to provide essential upgrades for various associated programs, including band, choir, and drama. This strategic approach resulted in the creation of a comprehensive performing arts wing, encompassing a new band room, choir room, black-box theater, and a 1,100-seat theater. Supporting facilities such as offices, practice rooms, classrooms, pre-function areas, and backstage spaces were also integrated into the design. The versatility of the new theater space allows for a wide range of uses, including theatrical productions, concerts, presentations, and community events.

Equipped with advanced features like LED theatrical lighting, an integrated sound system, manually operated counterweight rigging system, catwalks, an orchestra pit, and backstage facilities, the facility meets professional standards for performance preparation and execution. The building's design is marked by a dramatic form, featuring a large glass atrium, deeply recessed precast concrete panels, and a bold interplay of color, light, shadow, and graphics. A cantilevered stair landing extends beyond the building's facade, providing cover at the front entrance and defining a spacious public plaza suitable for gatherings and socializing.
